Throw Blanket: Shore Crab Reaching for the Sun

I came upon this Striped Shore Crab perched upon a small piece of driftwood within short reach of the ocean's safety. Instead it stood proud and like Icarus chose to reach for the sun. After capturing the crabs aspirational moment I continued my run. On my way back the sun had set and the shore crab had retreated to the safety of the sea.
This was my favorite image of 2015 and was published as a user submission in an old issue of the North Coast Journal.
